The fish is generally fried in front of you and your food preparation takes place interactively as they ask for roll type , salt , vinegar or spice. I have been here numerous times since a friend recommended the place as he worked around the corner for years and this was his staple. The food taste and quality is consistent and always fresh. I do struggle with parking but it’s a risk worth taking any day. If u know good fish and chips then u should know Altona Fisheries.

It's not fine dining, but it's great fish and chips, in paper. Wait for your turn

Wow! I’ve been craving fish and chips for about a week and this certainly hit the spot! It’s different to what I’ve been used to in England, so no mushy peas or curry sauce, but still delicious and arguably even better! The slaptjips were perfect, and really lovely tasting fish (I had grilled snoek and my kids had fried hake). The fried fish was not totally crispy but delicious anyway. Perfect amount of salt and vinegar as chippies tend to put too much, I feel, but this was great. Great service and additionally I love that you can add absolutely delicious spicy mango pickle on top of your fish and chips AND that you can buy it to take home by the bottle for R40! Great prices and humongous portions, you will not be hungry after eating from here!
